This is Melissa writing. Buffy is curled on the floor in a ball. In shock.
You see this morning my little pup left puppyhood and has become a “woman” in the dog sense of the word. Yes she has entered her first heat. I will spare you the gory details, but suffice it to say, Buffy now wears a diaper while she is inside — something she does not welcome. She sits as soon as the diaper is put on and seems to be in capable of taking more than 4 or 5 steps with each foot without sitting down and giving anyone near by the most pathetic look. I think she is trying to tell me that she completely resents the fact that there is something “wrong” with her hind end and she completely resents the fact that I have put a diaper on her back end.
I’m sure once she is back on her feet Buffy will have plenty to tell you all. Oh and did I mention that this started while she is away with me on a retreat with my youth group? Fun times! Sadly no more beach and swimming for Buffy! (Those pesky male dogs will come nosing around to pay their respects once they smell her.)
